About us

Wendy lives with her husband, son and 16 chickens.

The semi-detached thatched cottage is grade II listed. The cottage has been sensitively renovated, there are steps between rooms and corridors that require individuals to be ambulant.

The front door opens onto the main road, this could be hazardous, and individuals will require support when first visiting and attempting to cross the road. Wendy and family use the kitchen entrance and side driveway to get into the house safely. The slope of the garden leads to steps down to the kitchen door entrance.

The garden extends to fields at the rear of the house. There is lots of space to play, find shade and to sit quietly. The sheds, garage, outbuildings, and chicken coop are within the garden. There are many areas to explore.

The house is a short walk away from the local church and village hall. Community cafes and shops are a few minutes away by car.

Sweet Surprise in Ilminster provides an opportunity for individuals with learning disabilities to meet peers, bake, create and offer customer service.

Donyatt is well situated for access to Chard, Ilminster, Taunton and Yeovil. There are limited bus services from Donyatt, however public transport in local towns offer connections to the rest of the country.

Once away from the busy main road there are lovely countryside walks.

The front of the house has no pathway. A step at the front door prevents one from stepping into the road directly.

At the back of the house four or five steps down from the garden or the path from the parking space – the back door has a generous opening with a stable door.

Not wheelchair accessible but an aided walker could manage stairs. The Ground floor quiet room is not suitable as a bedroom.

Steps and changing levels a risk for people with poor mobility – there is a step in and out of most rooms.
