About us

We are Cath and Steve and we have a Shared Lives guest living with us

About our house

Our house is a spacious four bedroom terraced house in a cul-de-sac location on the outskirts of the village of Chudleigh Knighton, near Newton Abbot. The garden is decked and paved with a log cabin and summer house/sunroom, shed and greenhouse, plus dog kennels. The rooms available for a short break include a large double room and a single room with views to the rear of the property

Apart from the three of us, we do have dogs

What we like to do

We are very active people and enjoy:

  • cycling
  • walking our dogs
  • football
  • swimming
  • going out to eat
  • cooking and having barbecues at home
  • holidays and travel
  • taking the people staying with us out for trips and entertainment

Our experience as carers

We have a wealth of caring experience and have been foster carers for 29 years. Over the years we have worked in main stream fostering, but for the past 10 years have worked in family care working with children with special needs and behaviour progression

  • and parents with a learning disability and their child

who require a short break. It is important that the person is a good match to our existing service user.

Local area and community

Chudleigh Knighton is a village close to Chudleigh, Newton Abbot and the A38 and so an easy link to Exeter, Plymouth and places in between. The village has:

  • a Post Office
  • a convenience shop
  • pub with restaurant
  • school
  • and a play park

The Village Hall is the community centre and has:

  • a snooker room
  • bingo
  • a drama club
  • gardening club
  • and holds a whist drive

There are other amenities close by in Chudleigh and Newton Abbot
