About us

We are Debbie and Mark

About our house

We live in a detached three bedroomed house down a country lane on the outskirts of Bugle. The house is set in nearly an acre of garden which has a mini orchard of Cornish apple trees, a vegetable patch, pond, a greenhouse a summer house and our own fresh water well. Our bedrooms are on the first floor and are accessed via a steep narrow staircase, so it is unfortunately not suitable for someone who can’t manage stairs easily.

We also have a detached chalet which we intend to offer Shared Lives guests seeking independence, with support nearby if required, for example having your own space but still being able to enjoy family mealtimes together

Who else lives here?

Apart from the two of us, we have two dogs Bruno and Kevin

What we like to do

We enjoy:

  • taking our boat out for fishing trips
  • kayaking
  • beach barbecues
  • cycling the Camel or Lanhydrock cycle pathways
  • and walking our dogs, Bruno and Kevin

We’re also keen motorcyclists going on regular road ride-outs or trail riding with friends. In the winter evenings we enjoy evenings spent by the log burner watching films and TV programmes. Having a large workshop and an interest in motorbikes of all ages, Mark enjoys maintaining our vehicles. We have a large garden which we are gradually landscaping and adding trees and shrubs to, in the warmer months we like to spend time in the garden enjoying barbeques playing with the dogs or simply relaxing in the hammock under the trees

Our experience as carers

We have been Shared Lives carers for over six years and have a good network of support with other local carers.  We have demonstrated a particular strength of working with people to promote their independence, build confidence and to develop their skills
