Carers Joy and Bou Roodenburg were thrilled to take home the top award for Supported
Living Award at the Outstanding Care Awards for Devon and Cornwall.
The Torpoint based carers won Gold in the category have supported a lady called Karen for many years. They have helped her live her life to the full, learn new skills and she is part of their family.
Torbay carer Karen Kelly Markwick took home Bronze in the same category and she also placed Silver in the Supported Living Manager of the Year award.
Shared Lives Coordinators Claire Bettinson and Jane Rolfe also attended to support the carers.
The awards, held at the Riviera Centre, Torquay, received more than 800 nominations. The awards celebrate the best care workers in the industry in Devon and Cornwall, started last year and are continuing to grow.
Award Success
Last year our Cornwall carers Sheila and Brian Baker from Penzance also won the Outstanding Contribution to Care Award. They recently opened their home for the evening to help us celebrate Shared Lived Week where our CEO- with the help of team- ran 200 miles to raise awareness of our charity.
The run also raised almost £3,000 for Shared Lives South West.
