Welcome to Jackie who has joined our Cornwall team

Jackie is dressed in a grey jumper, wearing glasses with foilage behind her.

The Cornwall team has welcomed Jackie Webb as an administrator.
We caught up with her to find out a little more about her…

Can you tell us a little bit about your background?

My working background has predominantly been in finance,  where I have worked for accountancy firms and later had my own business offering bookkeeping services.

After 30 years, I really wanted to have a change of direction as working with numbers doesn’t always give a lot back, so cutting a long story short, I took the plunge and went to study Midwifery. This wasn’t quite right for me, but it had given me a valuable experience I will always treasure and more experience for whatever life brings my way.

What made you apply for the role at Shared Lives South West?

I had been looking for a job within a worthy organisation with a caring nature that would utilise some of my transferable skills whilst challenging me into a new direction. When I saw the advertisement on Indeed, I went straight to the website for Shared Lives South West and thought to myself, what a great cause, I would love to be part of that.

It also struck me how well the job application was worded to make the applicant feel welcome and not too daunted about the position they were applying for and it gave me the courage to apply.

How are you finding it so far?

The whole team at Shared Lives South West has been so welcoming and helpful that I have no doubt I made the right decision in joining you.

I enjoy coming to work because the people are uniquely fantastic, and I like that the work requires me to be human and not robotic, I can be myself and I hope to be a good help to everyone I come across in time.

What three things would you take with you to a desert island?

I would like to have a radio to listen to a bit of chat and lots of music, pictures of my family and for practical reasons a Swiss army knife so that I could build a makeshift house and prepare food.
