The house is a large detached property located near Bovey Tracey.
The living rooms are spacious and open plan and on the first floor, upstairs from the main entrance of the property. There is disabled access to the rear of the property through the rear entrance however there is a long ramp and more suited to a powered wheelchair than a manual one.
The house lies along a quiet country lane serving just a few properties. A wooden gate electrically operated gives access to the driveway, house and garage.
As you walk in the front door to the ground floor there is a spacious double bedroom with ensuite wet room (a room for a person supported in SLSW placement), another double bedroom and a separate toilet.
On the first floor is a further single/small double bedroom with a wet room which overlooks the front of the property. This is the room which is currently vacant.
Iain lives with his wife Gillian, she is a wheelchair user and most of the house and parts of the garden are accessible. The large garden is on a gently sloping site made accessible with sloping paths and steps and has an extensive model railway, with tunnels and bridges going right around the garden There are lovely flower beds and a vegetable area.
Iain lives with his wife Gillian as well as two people are supported in SLSW placements. Iain and Gillian have 3 friendly Standard Poodle dogs who are all very friendly and well behaved.
Iain has many interests – walking the dogs, tending to the garden and enjoy tinkering with the railway which is set up in the garden. I would love to share these hobbies with someone.
Iain and Gillian enjoy playing cards, reading and spending time with friends. Iain has a real fascination for history both modern and ancient.
Gillian works from home 20 hours a week and in her free time enjoys arts and crafts and makes beautiful teddy bears. Both Gillian and Iain are experienced in care both professionally and in our home with family members. Iain used to be a paramedic and Gillian and Iain ran a care home.
Iain and Gillian have a support carer who also support them in their roles as SLSW carers and is an active member of the SLSW family.
Iain and Gillian are looking to support another person for a short breaks/respite or long term support; someone who likes to be active and involved in the family. Ian and Gillian have a grandchild who regularly comes to visit.
The location is semi-rural and is not served by a bus route. Bovey Tracey is quite near and Iain is happy to drive anyone supported to local places (Newton Abbot, Ashburton, Dartmoor, Chudleigh etc). Bovey Tracey is quite a vibrant town and there are many clubs and amenities.
