The carers are warm, welcoming, and highly person-centered couple who are dedicated to providing flexible, tailored support that truly reflects the needs and preferences of the individual. They are thoughtful and adaptable in their approach, taking time to get to know each person and ensuring support is shaped around what matters most to them.
They live in a spacious four-bedroom detached home, set within a quiet cul-de-sac of just 11 houses, overlooking open fields. The property offers a peaceful and homely environment, with a small step leading into a hallway, a comfortable main lounge, a separate snug, and a kitchen/diner that opens into a conservatory with views across the garden and fields. There is also a downstairs toilet for convenience. The front and rear gardens are well maintained, with a medium-sized rear garden featuring a summer house, creating a pleasant outdoor space to relax and enjoy.
There are two rooms available: a rear-facing double room with an en-suite, and a front-facing single room. This means there may be opportunities for individuals to share the household with others receiving support, depending on compatibility.
The home is well located, with good bus links nearby and the town of Taunton less than a 10-minute drive away, offering access to a wide range of amenities, shops, and community opportunities.
The carers bring a wealth of experience, having previously supported an individual in their home for many years through to the end of his life. Following this, one carer continued working as a night support worker within supported living, while the other became a micro-provider supporting an individual in the community. Their experience reflects both their commitment and compassionate approach to care.
They are currently offering short breaks, with the potential for a longer-term placement if the match is right.
Family life is important within the home, and their grandchildren visit regularly.
This placement would particularly suit someone who is looking for a quieter household, while still having opportunities to get out and about if they wish. The carers are keen to support individuals to develop or maintain independence skills, encouraging involvement in everyday activities. They enjoy spending time gardening, reading, playing games, and going out to cafés, meals, and local places of interest, and are happy to share these activities based on the individual’s preferences. They are also churchgoers and are respectful and flexible in this, ensuring individuals can choose whether or not to be involved—one carer can remain at home if preferred.
