Suzanne is a single female Carer. She has very many years experience of caring from her own home and is very open minded, warm hearted and fun loving. Suzanne supports one man long term. He is middle aged and has a moderate learning disability. He has lived with Sue almost all his adult life and is very much part of the family. Sue also has one quiet medium sized dog, Karma, who was rescued by Sue on the streets in India. Sue’s adult daughter pops in and out and Sue has a large extended family, who visit too.
Suzanne’s home is a detached dormer bungalow on the main road on the way into the thriving seaside town of Brixham. The bus stop is right outside the house. Suzanne has a downstairs room with bed and en-suite shower room available, and a bedroom upstairs with another en-suite bathroom. Please note that the downstairs room has a single bed and the shower is walk-in with a seat if needed. Whereas the upstairs room has a double bed and a bath, with no shower.
Sue likes to support people for short breaks and respite and listens first to what’s important and what they would like to do. Sue is a car driver and so can drive to local places or support someone to use the bus, if they would prefer. Sue enjoys going out for meals, coffee and cakes, spa days, music events and going up to Dartmoor or off to the seaside.
Sue is keen to support someone who would like some emotional support, some opportunities to enjoy the local environment and attractions and some home cooked meals.
Sue also wondered if anyone would like the downstairs bedroom, which has a small sitting room area and could be fitted out with kitchen equipment, to stay for a planned longer period of time in order to develop their independence skills as a moving on step perhaps.
Sue has some issues with her knees and is not as nimble as she once was. She is happy to support with personal care, and very experienced in doing so, but has some physical limitations herself now, which may need to be considered. Sue has experience working with people with learning disabilities, mild mental health issues and with older adults too.
