About us

My name is Teresa, I live in Plymouth in a house with my husband, one other person supported in a Shared Lives Placement and our two pet dogs. We have a son who is grown up and lives with his partner and their daughter in Plymouth. They visit regularly with their young children.

About our house Our house is close to Plymouth train station as well as on route to many other local and national bus routes. Our house is a large Victorian property with a couple steps leading up to the front door.

On the ground floor there is a hallway leading through to the kitchen, and a lounge and separate dining room are off to the side. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two of which are currently spare. Outside there  are steps up to the top patio area which is a nice space to sit in the sunshine. There is also access to the rear lane.

What we like to do We walk our dogs every day. We like to go to local things that go on in the area like trips to the cinema, bowling or meals out in restaurants. Plymouth is a busy city with lots going on. We like to go out with our family members and spend time with our grandchildren.

A bit about me I have worked as a Shared Lives Carer since 2004, I have a vast amount of care experiences over the years supporting females with varying and complex learning disabilities, mental health needs as well as supporting an older person with dementia.  My daughter-in-law Sam works alongside me to support up to 3 females in my home.

What sort of person would suit sharing our home? My preference is to work with females who like to be active and want to do things, whether that may be exploring employment/volunteering opportunities, attending educational settings or day services or going to the local swimming pool, or making use of all that Plymouth has to offer to learn new skills and live as independently as possible. I would like to support a person who would enjoy being part of our family life and go on day trips etc together.
