In the last month, Ellie Hurrell has joined our admin team in the Devon office.
She joins us with great energy and a wealth of experience.
We thought we’d catch up with Ellie after her first few weeks in post…
1, Can you tell us a little bit about your working background?
I joined SLSW after seven amazing years working within the Business Support team at Eastern CAMHS, Exeter. CAMHS was a challenging but very rewarding journey, supporting young people and families, and I learned so much along the way.
2, What made you apply for the role?
I applied for the role, as I was looking to become part of something that makes a real difference in people’s lives and when the job advert appeared in my web search results, it really appealed to my sense of purpose, as well as matching my skill set.
3, How are you finding it so far in your first few weeks at SLSW?
It has been a whirlwind of information and processes, but most importantly, it has been filled with the joy of meeting wonderful new people who have been so kind, supportive, and patient. I feel as though I’m where I belong.
4. What do you enjoy doing outside of work
I am a keen bowler and play for the Bovey Tracey Bowls Club (not very well, but I love it!). I also enjoy volunteering my time to community pursuits and have recently started a board game club for adults in the Bovey Tracey area. I live up in Hennock in a beautiful little cottage with my Husband, Nikki, and my ragdoll cat, Princess Pickles. I enjoy traveling, reading, and using my creative skills as much as possible – predominantly clay and painting.
I also love to knit and I’m looking forward to somebody teaching me to crochet.
5, What are you looking forward to most about your role at SLSW?
Bringing my experiences into this role and building new knowledge to help support a brilliant team. The cakes look great too! [Staff are always bringing in treats to the office]
6. Name three things to take to a desert island?
One; Bowls (a must), two; Tim Tams, three; my ‘Little Frog’s Self Guide to Self-Care’ cards.
